A se-tenant stamp with KERNBANKHAZ on, there's also a number printed on it but it's difficult to read it.
I guess it's from Hungary, could it be a stamp duty?
Posted by Vagn Andersen on 25 November 99 |
ANSWERS:
I have seen the term "kernbank" used in relation to the world famous
salt mines of Hallstatt (South East of Salzburg). These have
operated for thousands of years. This might suggest that they are salt tax revenues of the
Austro-Hungarian Empire or charity stamps for the benefit of the salt
workers. 'Kern bank' (German) refers to "core" bank or main bank.
This might equally apply to a main bank (deposit) of salt,
in the ground, or of a core (central to the economy)
financial bank. | |

"Reinertrag: Deutsche Schiller Stiftung. Zur Erinnerung an, 1 pfg (Fr. Schiller)".
What is this?
Posted by Vagn Andersen on 25 November 99 |
ANSWERS:
C33 "Reinertrag: Deutsche Schiller Stiftung. Zur Erinnerung an, 1 pfg (Fr.
Schiller)". Would be a donation stamp to German Schiller Foundation -- an
organization founded in honor of the memory of the 18th Century German writer. I
imagine it might have been located in Weimar, Germany, where he lived and
worked. | |

Need help identifying this German stamp. Any information would be greatly
appreciated.
Posted by Gary Pittet on 29 November 99 |
ANSWERS:
C35 "Fluechtlings Hilfs-Aktion" means "Refugee Aid Action". This would have been
a donation stamp to help the millions of refugees who had flooded into what
remained of Germany after WWII. There would have been around 12 million refugees
in Germany in 1947 (expellees from the regions annexed by Poland and the Soviet
Union after 1945, deported Sudeten Germans, displaced persons from other
European countries, etc. This is some action to help them. 1 Reichsmark
denomination. | |

"Farmacia Belgrano" - an Italian eyeglass poster stamp/ad stamp?
But what is address in Banfield which sounds
British? Any info on this label?
Posted by Paul S. Luchter on 06 December 99 |
ANSWERS:
It's surely an ad stamp, not italian though. I believe this to be from Argentina. I may be wrong
but Banfield should be one of many boroughs of Buenos Aires. Besides Manuel Belgrano is famous in
Argentina's history. | |
